A new stage in the development of crypto-currency industry in Uzbekistan began in 2022, when President signed the Decree dated April 27, 2022 №DP-121 "On introducing amendments and additions, as well as invalidation of some acts of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan". This decree introduced significant changes to the regulation of crypto-assets turnover sphere.

This document, in particular, defined types of service providers, such as crypto-currency exchange, mining pool, crypto-currency depositories and crypto-currency stores.

The institutional structure of the national crypto-currency market is expanding every year. While by the beginning of 2022 only one crypto-currency exchange was operating in Uzbekistan, by the end of 2022, four more crypto-currency stores were licensed to operate.

In 2023, nine licenses were issued to providers of services in the crypto-asset turnover sphere: one crypto-currency exchange, two crypto-currency depositories and six crypto-currency stores.

Currently, the number of providers of services in the crypto-asset turnover sphere in Uzbekistan has reached fourteen: two crypto-currency exchanges, two crypto-currency depositories and ten crypto-currency stores.

The National Agency of Perspective Projects is continuing to work on creating favorable conditions for the activities of service providers in crypto-asset turnover  sphere, developing and implementing advanced methods of legal regulation to use all the advantages of crypto-assets in the economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
